Visit County Dublin’s lovely coastal village Howth.
Howth Head gives fine views of Dublin Bay and the Wicklow Mountains or The Boyne Valley beyond. It is a good alternative to see the landscape of Ireland without travelling for hours.
It is worth a visit to the harbour where you will find a variety of shops that sell the freshest fish in Dublin you will also find many lovely restaurants and pubs.
Howth is a popular area for birdwatching and sailing and is also popular with anglers and sea mammals, such as seals, are common sights in and near the harbour.
Cliff paths lead around the coastline, through Howth village and its ruined abbey, and past Baily Lighthouse.
The 15th-century Howth Castle and its estate, Deer Park are inland, partly ruinous, but with fine rhododendron gardens.
All in all Howth is a wonderful place for a daytrip during your visit to Dublin.
The DART (Dublin’s train service which departs from the city centre) will take you to the fishing village for only €2.30 per person.
